A Bit About Therapy
Many of us were taught the "rub some dirt on it" method growing up to deal with emotions. As life marches forward, we adapt the best we can. Therefore, we don't realize how the repressed emotions had caused maladaptive, negative perspective and self-destructive behaviors. Therapy is helpful in providing guidance and support through life’s challenges. Therapy is a form of treatment to process the past or current stressful situation, explore and alleviate unwanted symptoms, increase awareness, discover your strength and resiliency, learn effective tools to cope with future stresses, and meet yours goals of personal growth and healthier life. The process uses one or a combination of therapeutic practices to treat an array of mental health issues on a client-centered approach. What work for one person may not work as well for the another. Let your therapist know if you don't feel like therapy is working. Your therapist may work with you on a different approach. It is important that you find a therapist that is right for you and can guide you on your healing journey.
