Clinical Social Work Supervision

Have you been thinking about starting your clinical hours? But the concerns about timing, work schedule, home obligations, and finance keep running through your mind. I can help address those concerns. I provide a free consultation to discuss your goals and explore what to expect in clinical supervision.

                                 Who I am?

I am approved by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners to provide clinical supervision for social workers pursuing their clinical license. Over the course of my professional career, I have worked in a variety of social work roles, each offering valuable experience and insight into the field. From early in my academic journey, I knew I wanted to become a clinical social worker.

Although I delayed my own clinical supervision due to life’s demands, I understand how overwhelming the process can feel. The requirements are manageable—it is not a “second job”—and with guidance, navigating this path becomes much simpler than expected.

                                Why do I supervise?

I am passionate about the field of social work and committed to supporting professional growth. Obtaining a clinical social work license has been transformative in my practice, and I continue to learn and grow to better serve clients and the community.

Through years of experience in roles that included training and supervising others, I have seen how clinical supervision strengthens knowledge, skills, and confidence. I am dedicated to helping social workers advance into clinical practice, positively impacting social welfare and contributing to stronger social systems.

What is required to obtain a license as a clinical social worker?

To become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Texas, you must:

1. Earn a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program, or a Doctoral degree in Social Work from an approved institution.

2. Complete 3,000 hours of supervised professional clinical experience over 24–48 months. Hours must comply with §781.404 and other applicable laws. Full-time hours are 30+

hours/week for 24 months; part-time hours are 15+ hours/week for 48 months. Hours not meeting these standards do not count toward the 3,000-hour requirement.

3. Complete a minimum of 100 hours of supervision with a Council-approved supervisor during the 3,000 hours.

4. Ensure supervised experience occurs within five years prior to the LCSW application.

5. Pass the ASWB Clinical Examination, administered nationally.

                                                                    What to expect in supervision?

My goal in supervision is to help you develop clinical knowledge, skills, and confidence. During our sessions, we will:

· Evaluate your current job to determine eligibility for clinical hours.

· Discuss supervision outside your place of employment, if needed.

· Sign a confidentiality agreement to comply with HIPAA.

· Schedule at least 4 hours per month, with a minimum of 2 supervisory sessions, up to a maximum of 10 hours per month.

· Maintain and routinely review supervision records.

· Provide supervision in person or virtually via teleconference.

As supervision progresses, we will focus on preparing for your clinical examination while ensuring your experience meets the Texas State Board’s requirements
